If you’re looking for a quiet escape surrounded by nature, this charming vacation rental just north of New Castle, Colorado, may be exactly what you need. We visited in September 2024, and from the moment we arrived, we knew we had found a special place tucked away in the foothills.
A Warm Welcome from a Wonderful Host
Our host, Brooks Elliot, was an absolute delight. Friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind, Brooks made us feel at home right away. The rental sits just below his personal residence, and the layout works seamlessly—private, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged.
A Quiet Retreat Surrounded by Wildlife
This property is ideal for anyone who loves peace and quiet. With its out-of-town location, we woke up each morning to birdsong, fresh mountain air, and the unmistakable calm of nature. Wildlife is plentiful here, and a beautiful creek runs along the east side of the property—perfect for early morning strolls.
We even drove up the mountain and explored the incredible natural mesa, full of wildlife and unmatched views for this time of year.
Comfortable Living Space
The apartment features two bedrooms and a spacious bathroom, all fully stocked with linens, pillows, extra blankets, and plenty of towels. The king bed offered exceptional comfort—truly some of the best nights of sleep we’ve had on a trip.
The kitchen is modest, with limited cooking options and a smaller refrigerator, but for short stays it works wonderfully. A toaster oven, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker are provided, making simple meals and morning coffee easy and convenient.
Great for Pets & Outdoor Relaxation
One of our favorite parts of the stay was how pet-friendly the property is. Our dogs absolutely loved running on the lush green grass, and the wide-open space gave them plenty to explore. Outside, guests can also enjoy a jacuzzi and BBQ grill, perfect for unwinding after a day of adventure.
There is also a creek running adjacent to the property, which was a delightful area to explore with the dogs.

Our stay at this New Castle rental exceeded expectations, above and beyond. The peaceful setting, comfortable accommodations, and Brooks’s warm hospitality created the perfect getaway. We left feeling refreshed—and already excited to return.
