Outstanding Home in Cheyenne: Our Boutique Pit Stop

During our South to North cross-country trek in the fall of 2024, my husband, the pups, and I rolled into Cheyenne, Wyoming, for a quick overnight stay. We were expecting a place to crash; what we found was a total vibe.

Denise’s place isn’t just a house; it’s a “Boutique Inn” disguised as a gorgeous 1920s bungalow. Located right in the heart of town near the Capitol and Frontier Park, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to cancel your morning plans just to linger over another cup of coffee.

First Impressions & "The Glow"

We arrived late (as road trippers often do), but thanks to a super easy keypad entry, getting in was a breeze. Denise is clearly a pro—she left the lights on for us, so the house was practically glowing when we walked in.

The house has that perfect mix of “Old World Soul” and “Modern Magic.” Think stunning original woodwork and cozy details paired with shiny new appliances. It’s elegant enough to feel like a special treat, but comfortable enough that the dogs didn’t feel like they couldn’t find a comfortable place to lay down.

The "Laundry Lottery" Win

Let’s talk about the absolute highlight of my night: The washer and dryer. I know, I know—it sounds glamorous, right? But after several days on the road without a washer and dryer, finding a laundry setup in the kitchen was like finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. I may or may not have done a little victory dance while loading my socks. Hopefully, no cameras gave me away!

So Many “Stay-A-While” Perks:

  • The Kitchen Booth: There is a booth-style dining area in the kitchen that is exceedingly charming. It’s the ultimate spot for a morning Keurig flavored coffee session.
  • The Reading Room: A dedicated nook in the front just for reading? Yes, please. My sweet Gracie spent a good bit of time staring out the window from her vantage point in this room.
  • The Bed Situation: A King in one room, a Queen in the other, and plenty of extra pillows. I’m happy to report that everyone (humans and hounds alike) slept soundly.
  • The Updated Kitchen: Everything we could possibly want was available in the beautifully updated kitchen.

Pups, Patios, and Fire Pit

If you’re traveling with four-legged co-pilots, this backyard is a dream. It’s fully fenced and safe, which meant I could breathe easy while the dogs explored.

The outdoor setup features a fire pit, a BBQ, and a dining table. The early October Wyoming air was perfectly crisp, and if we hadn’t been on such a tight schedule, I would have been out there with a marshmallow on a stick in a heartbeat.

Quick Tip for Pet Parents: Dogs are welcome here for a $50 fee—a small price to pay for a secure yard and a neighborhood quiet enough for a nap!

I Really Loved…

Denise was a fantastic host—checking in before we arrived to make sure we had the lay of the land. Everything from the fluffy towels to the fireplace was sparkling clean and thoughtfully curated.

I could spend plenty of time studying the craftsmanship of this home and looking into its history. I’m sure it has quite a story.

We were just passing through this time, but we’ve already decided: next time, we’re staying long enough to actually explore the city sights and use that fire pit. Cheyenne, you surprised us in the best way possible!
