Finding an out of town feel in the heart of Queen Creek was a daunting task but this rental was just the right fit! A little farm in a quiet, seemingly rural neighborhood was nothing short of fabulous!
Arizona Winter Gold: A Farmhouse Escape in Queen Creek
Queen Creek is tucked away in the Phoenix East Valley, and while it’s usually lovely in January, 2026 is showing off. We are talking mid-70s during the day and a crisp mid-40s at night. It is—quite literally—perfection. If you haven’t visited the desert during a “heat wave” in January, you are missing out on the most amazing weather on the planet!
A Rural Oasis (Before the Subdivisions Move In)
I found the most delightful little farm on the outskirts of the city. It’s one of those places that feels like a well-kept secret. There is so much development happening around the area that I fear this rural gem will be surrounded by subdivisions before we know it, but for now, it is an enticing, quiet retreat.
My host, Michele, met me when I arrived and was just as kind as could be. She’s the kind of host who makes you feel like an old friend, providing local tips and then giving you all the privacy you need. In a world of digital keypads and complex check-in codes, I was charmed to find the front door unlocked with the key just sitting on the kitchen counter. It’s that “small-town feel” that is becoming so rare!
The Grand Tour: Small but Mighty
While this guest house is technically “small” (one bedroom with a king-size bed), it never once felt cramped. In fact, it’s a masterclass in how to make a space highly usable.
The living area is comfortable, and the kitchen is a full-size dream. For those who know me, you know my first requirement for any rental: a drip coffee maker. Michele did not disappoint! The kitchen had everything I needed to cook, store leftovers, and—most importantly—caffeinate.
The Luxury of Laundry
I have to take a moment to celebrate the fact that there is a full-size washer and dryer located right near the kitchen. To some, that’s a utility; to me, it is a “great delight.” There’s just something about going home with clean clothes that makes a trip feel twice as relaxing.
The guesthouse is also equipped with central heat and AC (a non-negotiable for Arizona summers!), but since the weather was so perfect, the ceiling fans were all I needed to keep the air moving. Plus, the WiFi was solid, so I could actually enjoy surfing the net when not exploring the farm.
The Comforts of Home
Let’s talk about the bed: fantastically comfortable and incredibly cozy. The linens were fresh, the towels were plush, and Michele even tucked away extra bedding and pillows just in case. The bathroom is surprisingly generous in size with a great shower, and she even provided the shampoo, conditioner, and a hairdryer—saving me that precious suitcase space.
Horseplay and Pet Perks
Now for the best part. Michele was sweet enough to let me visit the horses on the property! She even left carrots in the refrigerator so I could hand out some snacks. Feeding a horse a carrot is a therapeutic experience I didn’t know I needed this week.
For my fellow pet travelers, this property is pet-friendly! There is a designated area right by the front door for four-legged guests. While they aren’t allowed to run wild on the farm (the horses might have a word or two about that), it’s a great setup for keeping your furry companions happy and safe.
I Really Loved…
My overall experience was wonderful. This is such a great hideaway in the midst of the busy city life. Whether you are traveling solo or as a couple, I cannot recommend this place enough. It’s a beautiful reminder that you don’t need a sprawling mansion to have a five-star experience—you just need a space that is thoughtful, well-provided, and maybe a horse or two to feed.
