Homewood Haven: Our Comfy Arkansas Hideaway Near Branson
Finding a truly quiet, comfortable, and genuinely dog-friendly escape can feel like hitting the jackpot. This past August (2025), my husband, our two pups, and I struck gold at Homewood Haven, Ruth’s delightful Airbnb nestled in the small, serene town of Omaha, Arkansas. It was the perfect spot for our 2 day relaxation mode as we travelled through Arkansas.

Traveling with our two dogs means we look for properties that prioritize space and privacy, and Homewood Haven delivered perfectly. We had a cozy, private unit located in the basement of Ruth’s beautiful personal home, complete with its own separate, key-padded entrance. Parking was conveniently located right beside our door—a huge plus after a drive!
Ruth is a true dog lover, and it showed in the details. We were so touched to see sheets already covering the living room sofas just for our dogs! The comfort extended to us, too: the King-sized bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring we all slept deeply and cozily. With the efficient window AC unit and ceiling fans, the space stayed cool and pleasant even on warm August days.
Outdoor Oasis and Serenity
While the unit is tucked away, the outdoor space is expansive and inviting. The property spans 30 beautiful acres that guests are welcome to explore. We didn’t stray far from the backyard & house area, but knowing there was a walking trail (“Shady Lane”) and a charming cedar swing nearby added to the rustic charm.
One of our favorite features, hands down, was the private Jacuzzi situated right in front of the rental, shielded by an overhead deck. There’s nothing like unwinding under the stars after a long drive! For cool Arkansas evenings, we also appreciated the fire pit and chairs outside—perfect for cozying up.
Ruth does have an above ground swimming pool she generously offered to let us use. On warm days, it would be a blessing!
Simple Eats and Gracious Hosting
The kitchen setup is minimal, but we found it perfectly adequate for a short stay, especially with the use of the outdoor BBQ and the available Keurig coffee maker. And if we had needed more, our host, Ruth, was incredibly gracious, offering us the use of her upstairs stove—though we didn’t end up needing to take her up on it!
I Really Loved…
Speaking of Ruth, she is simply a wonderful host. Living on the property, she was readily available without ever being intrusive. Her kindness shone brightest when my Gracie was unexpectedly sick in the car—Ruth went completely out of her way to wash her blanket for me. That level of hospitality is truly rare and made us feel so cared for.
While Homewood Haven is gloriously remote (hello, amazing wildlife viewing!), its location is surprisingly convenient. It’s just about 20 minutes south of Branson, Missouri! We loved being able to enjoy the quiet country life, while knowing world-class live shows, shopping, and dining were just a short drive away. We even found a fantastic farmers market close by!
Homewood Haven is an absolute gem. If you’re looking for a clean, private, comfortable retreat with a truly exceptional host, look no means further. We will absolutely be checking availability here the next time we’re anywhere near the area!
