Our Paws-itively Perfect Retreat: Finding Serenity at the Ozark Hills Hideaway
My husband and I recently returned from one of the most serene getaways we’ve ever experienced—and our beloved pups agree! We spent a blissful four nights and five days in August 2025 at the Ozark Hills Hideaway, a truly special rental property that felt less like a temporary stay and more like coming home.
A Homestead with Heart
What truly charmed us was the history of this place. Once a long-time cherished homestead for a family, the current owners have beautifully updated it, blending modern comfort with rustic soul.
The home sits on nearly 200 acres of rolling Missouri hills, offering a level of privacy and peace you simply can’t find near the city. We loved waking up to the spectacular sunrises that painted the sky over the expansive property!
Traveling with Pups? This Place is Heaven!
Finding a truly pet-friendly spot can be a challenge, but this hideaway exceeded all expectations. While there was a small, convenient fenced area, the real joy was the sheer amount of space for our dogs to roam. They had acres and acres for serious zoomies!
We even had some delightful, and engaging visitors: a few wandering cattle near the rear pond. Our pups were absolutely fascinated by them, which thankfully kept us safely on our side of the fence. (We opted out of fishing in the pond just to avoid tempting our silly chasers!)
Cozy Comforts & Thoughtful Touches
The house itself was wonderfully appointed. It offers three comfortable bedrooms: a master with a queen bed downstairs, and two more queen bedrooms upstairs. Everything was immaculate, and we appreciated the little details, like the abundance of extra pillows, blankets, and towels.
The main floor kitchen was full-sized and perfect for cooking, complete with a Keurig for our morning coffee ritual. The living room was so cozy—and yes, even a dog bed was provided! The owners truly thought of everything.
And bless them for the spacious laundry room! It was a godsend, especially since they also stocked it with a kennel, dog blankets, and even dog toys.
Our Favorite Spot? The back deck! We spent time there, sipping coffee, overlooking the pond, and watching the wildlife alongside the grazing cattle. It features a great BBQ, a fire pit, and comfy patio furniture—a truly perfect spot for winding down.
The Sweetest Location (and a Navigation Tip!)
The Ozark Hills Hideaway is tucked beautifully between Lebanon, Missouri and the vibrant Lake of the Ozarks. We were just about 20 minutes south of the Lake and made the easy trek up for dinner and sightseeing nearly every night. There are tons of restaurants and fun to be had up there!
A quick heads-up for future guests: Apple Maps didn’t guide us perfectly. Once you turn onto Camden Lane, keep going a little over a half-mile until you spot the sign in the front yard. Trust me, this private, peaceful sanctuary is worth the slight detour
A Quick Note for Fellow Dog Parents: It’s the Ozarks, so be proactive with your flea and tick prevention! Plan accordingly so you can all enjoy the property worry-free.
I Really Loved…
We were so sad to leave that we requested an extension, and Clinton at Lake Oasis Rentals, the property management company, was incredibly responsive and quick to make the arrangements—what a relief!
The check-in was simple, parking was easy, and the welcome binder provided excellent local recommendations.
If we ever find ourselves in the region again, the Ozark Hills Hideaway will absolutely be our first choice. It is a true gem, and we felt utterly at home in this cute little retreat.
